The Karachi leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formally approached the city administration, seeking authorization to organize a public meeting. This event is planned to coincide with the upcoming visit of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, to the metropolis.
Formal Request for Public Gathering
In an official letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner East, PTI Karachi President Raja Azhar and Secretary General Arsalan Khalid have applied for permission to hold the gathering. They have proposed Bagh-e-Jinnah, located adjacent to Mazar-e-Quaid, as the venue for Sunday, January 11. The party officials have provided assurances to the administration, committing that the event will remain peaceful and will strictly adhere to the prescribed code of conduct.
Inter-Provincial Coordination for Smooth Visit
Authorities from both Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are now engaged in coordination efforts to ensure the chief minister's visit proceeds without any issues. Reports indicate that Sindh Minister Nasir Hussain Shah contacted PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh to communicate that CM Afridi would be received in Sindh with appropriate protocol. Minister Shah emphasized the intention to avoid any incidents similar to those recently witnessed in Punjab.
In response, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi expressed his gratitude to the Sindh authorities for their cooperation. He stated that he does not require any additional protocol and stressed that political activities should be permitted as per the constitutional framework.
Expected High-Level Meeting
Insiders have revealed that during his trip to Karachi, CM Afridi is anticipated to meet with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The provincial government of Sindh has given assurances that all lawful protocol arrangements will be furnished for the visiting dignitary. This development points towards a significant political engagement between the leadership of the two provinces.
The planned public meeting, pending administrative approval, is set to be a key political activity in Karachi, highlighting PTI's ongoing engagements amid the current political landscape.
