ISLAMABAD: Two incidents of femicide were reported in the federal capital, highlighting the persistent issue of domestic violence in the region.
First Incident: Retired Sub-Inspector Shoots Wife
In the first case, a retired sub-inspector of the Federal Police fatally shot his wife following a domestic dispute in Ghori Town, within the jurisdiction of Koral Police Station. The police promptly arrested the accused, identified as Tariq, a former sub-inspector. According to police sources, Tariq frequently quarreled with his wife. On Monday, after yet another altercation escalated, he used a firearm to shoot her inside their home. Law enforcement officials arrested Tariq red-handed at the scene, confiscating the weapon. The victim's body was handed over to her family after the postmortem examination.
Second Incident: Man Kills Wife with Sharp Instrument
In the second incident, a man named Muzammil brutally murdered his young wife with a sharp instrument in a flat at E-11/2, falling under the Shalimar Police Station limits. Following the crime, the accused fled the scene. As of the latest reports, Shalimar police have not yet been able to apprehend Muzammil. The body of the victim was also handed over to her family after necessary legal procedures.
Police Response and Legal Action
Separate cases have been registered for both incidents. The police have intensified efforts to locate the absconding suspect in the second case. Authorities urge citizens to report any information regarding Muzammil's whereabouts to assist in the investigation.
