Massive Fire Engulfs Islamabad's H-9 Bazaar, 80% Contained

Fire Breaks Out at H-9 Bazaar

Rescue officials and firefighters are working to extinguish a massive blaze that erupted at Islamabad's H-9 bazaar on Tuesday night, according to a statement from the deputy commissioner's office. The fire started in the clothing stalls of the popular market, and authorities are currently determining the cause.

80% of Flames Under Control

The district administration reported that 80 percent of the flames have been brought under control due to a timely response. The deputy commissioner's office stated, 'Overall, the fire engulfed nine sections of the market, of which seven sections have now been brought under control.' No loss of life has been reported as a result of the fire.

Emergency Response and Police Cooperation

The assistant commissioner of sector H-9 reached the site, while Rescue 1122 emergency teams from Rawalpindi are participating in relief operations. Islamabad Police issued a separate statement confirming that law enforcement personnel are carrying out their duties at the site. The police urged the public to act as responsible citizens, fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies and emergency services, and avoid unnecessary crowds.

Stalls offer clothing items, fruits and vegetables, household goods, toys, furniture, curtains, meat, and snacks. While the market is thronged by thousands every Sunday, it also remains open on Tuesdays and Fridays.
