Karachi Police Arrest Over 800 Suspects in Crackdown

KARACHI: In a major crackdown on criminal activities, Karachi Police have arrested more than 800 suspects during the past week, following directives from Additional IGP Karachi Azad Khan. The operations were conducted across various districts of the city, resulting in significant recoveries of weapons, narcotics, and stolen property.

Encounters with Armed Robbers

According to a spokesperson for Karachi Police, district police engaged in 17 encounters with armed robbers during the anti-crime operations. Three suspects were killed, and 19 others were arrested, including 17 injured robbers who were taken into custody after exchanges of fire. Authorities recovered 22 illegal weapons of various types, one hand grenade, and seven motorcycles from the arrested suspects.

Arrests and Seizures Across Zones

The spokesperson stated that a total of 808 suspects were apprehended in Karachi's East, West, and South zones during the week. As part of the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign and operations against criminals, police seized 50.597 kilograms of hashish and 1.896 kilograms of ice (crystal methamphetamine) and heroin, collectively valued at millions of rupees. Additionally, more than 99 illegal weapons along with ammunition, allegedly used in robberies and other criminal activities, were recovered from the suspects.

During raids conducted in various parts of the city, police also recovered 33 snatched or stolen motorcycles and three vehicles. The operations underscore the commitment of Karachi Police to curb crime and ensure the safety of citizens.
