LAHORE: An anti-corruption court has called for arguments on a petition filed by co-accused Mukhtar Ranjha seeking acquittal in a case concerning alleged illegal recruitments in the Punjab Assembly. The case involves former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and others.
Court Proceedings
During the hearing presided over by Anti-Corruption Court Judge Javed Iqbal Warraich, counsel for Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and former Principal Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti submitted applications requesting a one-day exemption from personal appearance. The lawyers informed the court that both accused were unwell and provided medical documents to support their requests. The court was told that doctors had advised rest for both individuals, with Muhammad Khan Bhatti also suffering from back pain.
Exemption Granted
After reviewing the applications, the court approved the one-day exemption requests for Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti. The judge then adjourned further proceedings until June 17, directing that arguments be presented on Mukhtar Ranjha's acquittal application at the next hearing.
