Anti-Terrorism Charges Added in Zain Shah Lynching Case

RAWALPINDI: In a significant development in the investigation of the brutal murder of Zain Shah in the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Town area under Dhamial police station, the police have classified the incident as a case of mob lynching by incorporating Section 11 WW of the Anti-Terrorism Act into the case.

Arrests and Remand

According to police officials, six suspects involved in the mob lynching have been apprehended following the addition of the new charges. The arrested individuals have been identified as Amjad Khan, Shah Hussain, Abdul Basit, Hamza Khan, Noman Khan, and Sohail Mahmood. They were produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court, which granted the police a ten-day physical remand for further interrogation.

Investigation Details

Investigating authorities stated that during the remand period, the accused will be questioned about other accomplices, the planning of the incident, and the motorcycle used in Zain's kidnapping. The double murder incident occurred on May 8 in Pir Mehr Ali Shah Town.

Background of the Incident

According to initial investigations, a dispute over a transaction of Rs1,300 led Siraj Mehsud to visit Zain Shah's residence along with his associates. A heated argument ensued, escalating into a shootout that resulted in Mehsud's death. Enraged by his death, Mehsud's relatives gathered a group and lynched Zain Shah, subjecting him to inhumane torture before ultimately killing him.
