RAWALPINDI: Following a 10-day shutdown for Eidul Azha holidays and the Energy Saving Programme, life in Rawalpindi and Islamabad fully returned to normal on Monday. All commercial, social, and administrative activities resumed across the twin cities, restoring routine business and economic activity.
Markets and Services Reopen
Markets, wholesale mandis, goods transport services, offices, and district courts reopened, bringing back normalcy to daily life. Daily wage workers also returned to work as employment opportunities resumed after the extended break. The reopening of goods transport services restored the supply of essential commodities, including flour, sugar, and grocery items, to markets across the region.
Court Proceedings Restart
Court proceedings resumed in district courts, judicial complexes, and special courts, with judges, lawyers, and court staff returning to duty. Prisoners from Adiala Jail were produced before various courts for hearings, marking the resumption of legal activities.
Impact on Prices and Vendors
With wholesale fruit and vegetable markets operational again, fresh produce supply resumed, leading to a slight decline in prices. Street vendors and neighbourhood shops also reopened after several days of closure, providing convenience to residents.
Attendance and Public Spaces
Attendance in offices, courts, and markets was reported at 90 to 95 per cent on the first working day. Public parks, which had seen heavy footfall during the holidays, returned to their usual quieter routine as citizens resumed their regular schedules.
