Taxila Police Apprehend Two Afghan Nationals After Intense Armed Encounter
Taxila Police Arrest Two Afghans in Armed Clash

In a dramatic late-night operation, Taxila police successfully apprehended two Afghan nationals following an intense armed confrontation on Mohra Muradopur road in Rawalpindi. The incident unfolded on Thursday night when a patrolling team attempted to intercept four individuals riding two motorcycles.

Police Encounter and Exchange of Fire

According to official reports, the police officers signaled the motorcyclists to stop, but instead of complying, the riders accelerated in an attempt to flee the scene. As the law enforcers moved to block their path, the suspects opened fire directly at the police team.

The police personnel quickly took cover behind their official vehicle, which sustained two bullet impacts during the assault. In response to the life-threatening situation, the officers returned fire in self-defense, leading to a brief but intense exchange of gunfire.

Aftermath and Arrests

When the shooting subsided, authorities discovered that two of the attackers had managed to escape on one of the motorcycles. However, two other individuals were found lying on the ground with injuries. The wounded suspects were immediately taken into custody and later identified as Zubair Khan and Fahim Khan, also known as Imran, both Afghan nationals residing on HMC Road in Taxila.

Police investigations revealed that one of the escaped individuals is Hazrat Gul, an Afghan national from Peshawar, while the identity of the second fugitive remains unknown at this time.

Criminal Background of the Suspects

A formal statement from the city police department confirmed that all four Afghan nationals are notorious and wanted criminals. They have been actively involved in multiple serious offenses, including:

  • Car lifting incidents
  • Armed robberies
  • Illicit arms possession

These criminal activities have primarily targeted the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, making their apprehension a significant breakthrough for local law enforcement.

Recovery of Stolen Property

Further investigation disclosed that the motorcycle used by the arrested suspects had been snatched at gunpoint just days prior to this incident. This recovery adds another layer to the ongoing efforts to combat vehicle theft and related crimes in the region.

The successful operation highlights the continued vigilance of Taxila police in maintaining public safety and tackling organized criminal networks operating in the area.
