HYDERABAD - In a significant move to modernize construction regulations, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah inaugurated the 'Automated Single Window Facility' at the regional office of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) on Saturday.
Revolutionizing Construction Approvals
During the inauguration ceremony and subsequent press conference, Minister Shah emphasized that this new automated system would dramatically reduce the time required for obtaining construction approvals while simultaneously enhancing transparency and accountability. The facility aims to provide advanced services to citizens and connect the construction industry with global standard platforms.
The minister detailed that the automation will specifically cater to both residential and commercial structures being constructed on plots measuring 400 square yards and above. This targeted approach ensures that larger construction projects benefit from streamlined processes while maintaining regulatory oversight.
Political Vision and Development Agenda
Minister Shah highlighted that the Sindh government is implementing these reforms under the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He credited Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and the provincial cabinet for their dedicated efforts in translating this governance vision into reality.
The provincial government remains acutely aware of Hyderabad's civic and infrastructure challenges, with Minister Shah confirming that numerous problems including road construction, filtration plants, and drainage networks have already been addressed. More mega development projects are scheduled to launch in Hyderabad soon, signaling continued investment in the city's infrastructure.
Addressing Violations and Staff Welfare
In response to questions from journalists, Minister Shah took a firm stance against the commercialization of residential and heritage structures, labeling it as a blatant crime. He urged citizens to report such violations directly to him or Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro, promising strict action against offenders.
The minister also addressed longstanding issues concerning the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation staff, acknowledging that employees had faced delays in receiving salaries and pensions. However, thanks to the mayor's intervention, monthly salaries are now being disbursed promptly.
Minister Shah concluded by noting that the Sindh government has announced higher salary increments for provincial employees compared to other provinces, demonstrating commitment to workforce welfare. The event was attended by Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro, MNA Syed Tariq Ali Shah Jamote, MPA Nuzhat Pathan, and officials from district administration, SBCA, and Sindh Local Government Department.
