Anti-Narcotics Force Intensifies Crackdown with Multiple Arrests and Seizures

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has launched a significant nationwide operation, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals, including three women, and the recovery of 17.39 kilograms of illicit drugs with an estimated street value exceeding Rs 2.2 million. According to an ANF spokesperson, these actions were carried out in eight separate operations conducted around educational institutions and across major urban centers, highlighting a concerted effort to combat drug trafficking in Pakistan.

Targeted Operations Near Educational Campuses

In a focused crackdown near academic institutions, the ANF recovered 2.2 kg of hashish from a suspect apprehended near Jammu Road in Sialkot. Additionally, 400 grams of hashish was seized from another accused individual near a university on Hattar Road in Haripur. The arrested suspects have reportedly confessed to supplying drugs to students, underscoring the vulnerability of educational environments to narcotics infiltration and the ANF's proactive measures to safeguard youth.

International Smuggling Attempts Foiled at Airports

The ANF's vigilance extended to international borders, with notable interceptions at key airports. At Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, authorities seized 1.08 kg of ice (methamphetamine) from the bag of a passenger bound for Qatar. Similarly, at the Jinnah International Airport cargo shed in Karachi, 880 grams of ice was recovered from clothing concealed in a parcel destined for New Zealand. These operations demonstrate the ANF's capability to disrupt cross-border drug trafficking networks.

Additional Seizures and Arrests Across Cities

Further successes were recorded in various locations:

  • In Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi, the ANF recovered 30 grams of marijuana from a parcel arriving from the United States at a courier office, leading to the arrest of the accused.
  • Near Fateh Chowk in Hyderabad, 6 kg of hashish was seized from two women and a man.
  • In Rawalpindi, 3.6 kg of hashish was confiscated from a suspect near a bus terminal.
  • At the Islamabad Motorway Toll Plaza, 3.2 kg of ice was recovered from the bag of a female suspect.

These coordinated actions reflect the ANF's comprehensive approach to tackling drug distribution hubs across the country.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigations

All cases have been formally registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, with investigations currently underway to uncover broader networks and accomplices. The ANF spokesperson emphasized the force's commitment to rigorous enforcement and legal prosecution to deter future trafficking activities.

This crackdown comes amid growing concerns over drug abuse in Pakistan, particularly among students, and highlights the ANF's role in safeguarding public health and security through decisive anti-narcotics operations.
