PM Shehbaz Extends Austerity Measures Until June 30

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the continuation of the federal government's austerity measures until June 30, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday.

Key Austerity Measures Extended

Under the decision, the 50 per cent reduction in fuel allowances for government vehicles will remain in force until the end of the month. The notification said the directive requiring 60pc of government vehicles to remain off the road has also been extended until June 30 as part of ongoing efforts to curb public expenditure.

It added that the ban on foreign travel by government officers and officials will continue during the same period.

The Cabinet Division issued the notification after the prime minister approved recommendations put forward by a special committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of austerity measures.
