The United Arab Emirates has reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting regional security and stability while protecting the region's inhabitants from the consequences of ongoing conflicts. In a statement issued on Saturday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the unprovoked Iranian attacks and threats targeting the UAE and other countries across the region.
Details of the Attacks
According to the ministry, Iran launched nearly 3,000 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones toward the UAE. These attacks resulted in civilian casualties and inflicted damage on civilian infrastructure, constituting a clear violation of state sovereignty and posing a significant threat to regional peace and stability.
Defensive Measures
The ministry emphasized that all measures undertaken by the UAE have been strictly within the framework of defensive actions. These actions are aimed at protecting the nation's sovereignty, civilians, and vital infrastructure, in full alignment with the country's legitimate right to safeguard its national security and maintain stability.
“Attempts at coercion or the promotion of malicious narratives and allegations will not undermine the UAE’s principled positions, nor deter the country from safeguarding its supreme national interest and upholding its sovereignty and independent decision-making,” the statement added.

During a BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi on Friday, UAE Minister of State Khalifa bin Shaheen Al-Marar declared, “The UAE does not seek protection from others and is fully capable of deterring this unprovoked aggression.” He further rejected any allegations or threats targeting the UAE's sovereignty, national security, or independent decision-making, as reported by the Emirates News Agency.
Regional Context
The United States and Israel began a military campaign against Iran on February 28, leading Tehran to attack Gulf neighbors, Israel, and US assets in the region. A ceasefire announced on April 7 appears to be holding despite occasional skirmishes.
