ISLAMABAD: The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Turkiye, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Libya, Maldives, and Spain issued a joint statement on Tuesday condemning "in the strongest terms" what they described as "renewed Israeli assaults against the Global Sumud Flotilla." The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) released the statement, which expressed grave concern over the attacks.
Humanitarian Initiative Targeted
The flotilla was characterized as "a peaceful civilian humanitarian initiative aimed at drawing attention to the catastrophic humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people." The ministers highlighted that the mission was intended to deliver aid and raise awareness about the dire conditions in Gaza.
Historical Context of Israeli Interventions
The statement noted with "grave concern" previous Israeli interventions against similar flotillas in international waters. The ministers recalled that such actions have a history of violating international law and undermining humanitarian efforts.
The joint condemnation underscores the international community's growing frustration with Israel's actions and its impact on civilian humanitarian missions. The signatory nations called for an immediate halt to such assaults and urged the international community to take concrete steps to ensure the safety of humanitarian workers and the delivery of aid to Palestinians.
