Dar: Pakistan, China Enter CPEC 2.0 Phase

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that Pakistan and China are transitioning into a new phase of economic cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0. The next stage of the flagship project will prioritize industrialization, agriculture, information technology, mining, and human resource development.

Strategic Partnership Reaffirmed

Dar reaffirmed that Pakistan’s all-weather strategic partnership with China remains a key pillar of the country's foreign policy and development strategy. Speaking at a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy to mark the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), he congratulated the Chinese leadership and party members, praising China's remarkable achievements under the CPC.

China's Global Contributions

Dar highlighted China's extraordinary economic growth and its success in lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty. He noted that these achievements have not only transformed China but also contributed significantly to global development through the principles of shared prosperity and a shared future for humanity.

Long-Standing Friendship

Emphasizing the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China, Dar stated that the relationship has grown stronger over decades and continues to serve as an example of mutual trust, mutual respect, and mutually beneficial cooperation. He described the launch of CPEC in 2015 as a milestone in bilateral relations, which expanded practical cooperation, helped Pakistan overcome major electricity shortages, improved transport infrastructure, and created employment opportunities, especially in less-developed areas.

CPEC 2.0 Focus Areas

Dar said CPEC Phase 2.0 will focus on high-quality development by expanding cooperation in industrialization, agriculture, mines and minerals, information technology, and human resource development. He added that the new phase aligns closely with Pakistan's 5E Framework for Development, which prioritizes exports, e-Pakistan, environment and climate change, energy and infrastructure, and equity and empowerment.

Party-to-Party Engagement

Dar also highlighted the importance of party-to-party engagement between the Communist Party of China and Pakistan's political parties. He said such exchanges have strengthened mutual understanding, promoted the sharing of governance experiences, and enhanced people-to-people ties. He noted that Pakistan's political leadership, regardless of which party is in government, has consistently placed the highest importance on relations with China.

Commitment to Regional Peace

Reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to regional peace and global stability, Dar said Islamabad and Beijing will continue working closely for the benefit of both nations while contributing to international peace, stability, and sustainable development. He also underlined the long-standing relationship between the Communist Party of China and the Pakistan Muslim League (N), stating that continued interaction between the two parties has played an important role in deepening mutual understanding and further strengthening bilateral relations.
