US President Donald Trump has claimed that a finalized agreement with Iran has been reached, leading to the resumption of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Trump, several oil-laden vessels are once again navigating this critical shipping route.
Trump's Statement on Truth Social
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated that ships have started moving again, many carrying oil, and are exiting the Strait of Hormuz via what he termed the southern highway. He described the route as completely safe, calm, and in excellent condition. The president also mentioned the existence of alternative routes but did not provide further details.
Vice President JD Vance's Comments
US Vice President JD Vance, in an interview with CNBC, revealed that the text of the agreement ending the conflict with Iran and reopening the Strait of Hormuz is expected to be released later this week. He noted that further negotiations on details are still ongoing.
According to international media, Vance stated that the United States expects the waterway to remain open long-term without any transit fees. We expect the Strait of Hormuz to remain open for a long period without any fees, but important technical points are still being discussed, and we are working together to resolve them, he said.
Support from Israel and Signing Ceremony Details
Vance added that he believes some circles in Israel also support the agreement. He indicated that Iran's delegation at the signing ceremony is expected to include the Foreign Minister and the Speaker of Parliament, with the event likely taking place on Friday in Switzerland. He did not specify who would represent the United States.
