Sofía Vergara Reveals Modern Family Cast Still Uses Group Chat
Sofía Vergara: Modern Family Cast Still Uses Group Chat

Sofía Vergara has revealed that the cast of Modern Family remain closely connected six years after the hit sitcom concluded, with the actress saying they still communicate regularly through a group chat.

Reflections on Ed O'Neill

Speaking about her former co-stars, Vergara reflected on her friendship with Ed O'Neill, who played her on-screen husband Jay Pritchett throughout the show's 11-season run from 2009 to 2020. "I miss Ed O'Neill so much," Vergara said. "I mean, I miss everyone, but ... most of my scenes were always with Ed O'Neill. I spent the most of the 11 years with him. I miss him so much."

The actress described O'Neill as an important source of support during her early years on the series. "So to have someone like Ed O'Neill guiding you and helping you through a show like Modern Family was a dream. I couldn't have done it without him," she said.

Group Chat Dynamics

Vergara added that although the cast members occasionally reunite in person, they do not see each other as often as she would like. However, she confirmed they remain connected through a shared messaging group. "Yes, we do. We do and we use it a lot. It's very confusing. Ed answers like five days later about something, and then we have no clue what he's answering about. So it's pretty cool," she said.

The actress previously reunited with many of her former castmates in 2023, including O'Neill, Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ariel Winter, Rico Rodriguez, Nolan Gould and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons.

Public Health Campaign

Outside of her television career, Vergara is continuing her involvement with the Detect the SOS public health campaign alongside Octavia Spencer. The initiative aims to raise awareness about kidney disease risks associated with high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.

Vergara said she hopes the campaign's World Cup tie-in will help reach a wider audience, particularly within the Latin community, which she noted has a strong connection to football and the tournament's global appeal.
