Savannah Guthrie Breaks Down on Today Begging for Help Finding Missing Mother
Savannah Guthrie Pleads for Help Finding Missing Mother

Savannah Guthrie delivered an emotional plea on the June 23 edition of Today, struggling to hold back tears as she addressed the latest developments in the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. The NBC host appeared alongside her fellow presenters and acknowledged the unusual circumstances of discussing a story that directly involves her own family.

Heartfelt Plea to Viewers

Although she stressed that she was not involved in the program’s editorial coverage, Guthrie said she could not ignore the opportunity to make a heartfelt plea to viewers. “I love you guys and I love this place,” Guthrie began, surrounded by her co-hosts. “I don’t have any comment on this story, and I’m not involved in our coverage, but I can’t pretend I’m not here.”

The emotional moment came after reports emerged that a second note sent to the Guthrie family earlier this year allegedly claimed Nancy had died shortly after being abducted and had been buried somewhere in nature. The contents of the message had remained private until details surfaced publicly.

Fighting Through Tears

Fighting through tears, Guthrie urged anyone with information to come forward. “Somebody knows something,” she said. “This is the life that my sister lives, that I live, that my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our children live, every day. And we are in agony. We cannot be at peace.”

The veteran broadcaster explained that although she continues to appear on television each morning with optimism, the pain surrounding her mother’s disappearance never fades. “No matter how much I try to come out here every day and smile and find that joy, and I will, I promise I will, this is a moment to tell you that we need your help,” Guthrie said. “We’re begging for your help.”

Details of the Case

She added that tips could be submitted anonymously and pleaded with anyone who may know something to do the right thing for her family. “We love our mom, and we’ll never stop looking for her, ever,” she said, before becoming visibly emotional.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31. Two days later, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos publicly stated that investigators believed she had been abducted. According to reports, the first note sent to the family demanded $6 million in Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy’s safe return. A second message arrived in February.

Family's Ongoing Search

Shortly after receiving that note, Savannah appeared in an Instagram video alongside her siblings and appealed directly to the person responsible, asking for their mother to be returned. The Guthrie family is currently offering a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy’s recovery. As the search continues, Savannah’s emotional appearance on Today highlighted the heartbreak her family continues to endure and reinforced their determination to keep searching for answers.
