Anne Hathaway recently reflected on how Rihanna and her Ocean's 8 co-stars helped her feel confident after giving birth to her first child. The Oscar-winning actress, who recently announced her third pregnancy, had previously discussed body image struggles post-pregnancy.
Hathaway's Post-Baby Body Image Struggles
During a 2018 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote Ocean's 8, Hathaway opened up about returning to work after becoming a mother. She said, 'One of the lucky things about being in this business for so long is that I've really kind of come to terms with the pressure that you get to look a certain way as an actress, and I don't beat myself up about any of that stuff anymore. But after I had my son, the weight was really slow to come off and so I was a different size than I normally am.'
Supportive Co-Stars on Set
Hathaway recalled feeling nervous on set, but director Gary Ross reassured her by emphasizing the importance of representing different body types on screen. Her co-stars quickly made her feel comfortable. Sandra Bullock greeted her with, 'Looking good, mama!' and Cate Blanchett complimented her outfit, saying, 'Nice jeans, Hathaway!'
Rihanna's Memorable Compliment
The actress noted that Rihanna's reaction left a particularly lasting impression. 'And then Rihanna looks up and goes, "Damn girl, you got an ass!" And I of course freaked out and loved it so much. I was like, "Really?!" And she goes, "You got an ass like me!"' Hathaway shared.
Hathaway shares two sons, Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman and Jack Shulman, with husband Adam Shulman. The couple married in 2012 and are now expecting their third child. Her comments have resurfaced following her recent pregnancy announcement.
