In a remarkable display of youthful ingenuity, students from the TABS College of Science Girls Section in Hyderabad have clinched victory in the ninth cycle of Enterprise Challenge Pakistan. Their winning project, named Nebulavolt, is an innovative fog-to-electricity safety device specifically designed for fog-prone regions across the country. This achievement highlights the growing potential of student-led entrepreneurship in addressing critical environmental and infrastructural challenges.
Nebulavolt: A Low-Cost Solution for Clean Energy
The Nebulavolt device operates on a simple yet effective principle, utilizing a hydrophilic mesh to capture fog from the atmosphere. The captured water droplets are then converted into clean electricity through advanced triboelectric nanogenerators. This low-cost solution offers a sustainable alternative to traditional power sources, particularly in areas frequently affected by dense fog.
The generated electricity can be harnessed to operate essential roadside systems, including streetlights and traffic signals. By improving visibility during foggy conditions, Nebulavolt aims to significantly reduce road accidents, cut down on energy costs, and contribute to the development of safer, eco-friendly highways and smart cities. This project not only addresses safety concerns but also aligns with global efforts to promote renewable energy sources.
National Final Hosted in Karachi with High-Profile Attendees
The National Final of Enterprise Challenge Pakistan was hosted in Karachi on January 24, bringing together some of the brightest young minds from across the nation. The event was organized by the British Deputy High Commissioner, Lance Domm, in partnership with King’s Trust International and SEED Ventures. It drew a distinguished audience, including British High Commissioner Jane Marriott CMG OBE and Zahid Ali Abbasi, Secretary of the Sindh Education and Literacy Department.
Enterprise Challenge Pakistan stands as the country’s largest entrepreneurship competition for students aged 14 to 18. This year’s national final showcased a diverse array of start-up ideas from five finalist teams, each representing different regions of Pakistan. The competition underscores the importance of fostering innovation and entrepreneurial skills among the youth.
Other Notable Finalists and Their Projects
The runner-up position was secured by a team from Quetta, which presented Green Husk Creation—a project focused on transforming corn husk waste into bio-leather and paper sheets. This initiative highlights the potential for sustainable waste management and eco-friendly product development.

- HerLight Productions from Gilgit City, recognized as the region’s first all-female-led production house, aiming to empower women in the creative industry.
- Zindagi Check from Sadiqabad, an AI-powered application designed for instant medication verification, addressing healthcare safety concerns.
- Capable Homes from Peshawar, a low-cost home automation system aimed at enabling independent living for people with disabilities, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.

During the event, the King’s Trust Global Young Achiever Award Asia 2025 was presented to Zakia, the winner of Enterprise Challenge Pakistan 2024. Her team’s business concept involved providing affordable braille books and transcription services for visually impaired school students. Zakia’s team is now utilizing the prize money to scale their venture, Roshni, further expanding its impact on educational accessibility.
Speaking at the occasion, British Deputy High Commissioner Lance Domm praised the young finalists for their exceptional creativity and community-focused ideas.
