ICCI & IPO Pakistan Collaborate on IPR Awareness

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has taken a significant step toward strengthening intellectual property rights awareness by hosting a crucial meeting with Chairman Intellectual Property Organisation (IPO) Pakistan, Farrukh Amil, on Tuesday. This strategic gathering focused on developing collaboration between government and private sectors to promote understanding of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and trademark registration processes.

Joint Initiative for Business Empowerment

During the pivotal meeting, both organizations reached an agreement to jointly organize a comprehensive seminar on IPR awareness that will feature addresses by the federal commerce minister and senior IPO officials. The seminar aims to engage numerous business community members and highlight the strategic importance of intellectual property protection and trademark registration at both domestic and international levels.

Chairman IPO Pakistan Farrukh Amil emphasized the transformative potential of IPR education, stating that it can convert Pakistan's youth creative potential into a powerful engine for innovation and economic growth. "By introducing IPR education, we can cultivate a culture of creativity, protection, and profitability," he declared during his address.

Trademark Registration as Business Catalyst

Amil specifically highlighted the critical importance of trademark registration in today's globalized economy, noting that brand identity and product authenticity have become essential components for business expansion and market penetration. "Registering trademarks locally and internationally safeguards businesses against imitation, builds consumer trust, and opens new export opportunities," he explained to the assembled business leaders.

ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmoud reaffirmed the Chamber's commitment to advancing IPO's objectives within the business community. He stressed that intellectual property protection represents a vital element for modern business competitiveness and announced concrete measures to support this vision.

Practical Support Mechanisms Established

The Chamber revealed plans to launch an extensive awareness campaign in partnership with IPO and establish a dedicated IPO Help Desk at ICCI premises. This facility will assist traders and industrialists with registration matters covering trademarks, patents, and copyrights, providing direct support to the business community.

IPO Director General Noman Aslam appreciated ICCI's proactive approach and committed to arranging weekly visits by senior IPO officials to the Chamber. These regular briefings will educate members about intellectual property laws, registration procedures, and associated benefits to ensure maximum compliance and understanding.

ICCI Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub confirmed that the Chamber would disseminate IPO updates and information to members through WhatsApp and email channels to enhance awareness at all levels. He emphasized the importance of holding such productive meetings regularly to maintain momentum on IPR-related initiatives.
