Electric Bus Service and Modern Shelters to Launch in Multan Division

In a significant move towards modernizing urban transport, a decision has been made to introduce an electric bus service across Multan division. This initiative aims to provide citizens with state-of-the-art, safe, and environmentally friendly transportation options. The service is expected to enhance public mobility while addressing key urban challenges.

Meeting and Planning Details

A crucial meeting was convened under the leadership of Commissioner Multan Division, Aamir Kareem Khan, to discuss the implementation of the electric bus service and the construction of modern bus shelters. Officials from the PMA, PTC, and other relevant departments were present to coordinate efforts and ensure a smooth rollout.

Infrastructure Development

Prior to the arrival of the electric buses, extensive infrastructure work will be undertaken. A total of 470 modern bus shelters are planned for construction throughout Multan division to accommodate 114 electric buses. This preparatory step is designed to create a seamless and comfortable experience for commuters from day one.

Phased Implementation and Routes

The launch will occur in two distinct phases to optimize resources and impact. In the initial phase, 45 electric buses will be deployed on three key routes within Multan city. The second phase will see an additional 24 buses introduced on five more routes, expanding coverage and accessibility across the division.

Specific Shelter Allocations

Detailed plans include the construction of 49 modern bus shelters in Multan City and 87 in the Saddar area, with tendering processes already finalized. Additionally, other districts in the division will benefit: Khanewal will receive 136 shelters for 15 buses, Vehari will get 64 shelters for 10 buses, and Lodhran will have 134 shelters for 15 buses, where tendering is currently in progress.

Benefits and Commissioner's Vision

Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan emphasized that this electric bus service represents a major leap forward in urban transport. It is projected to offer affordable and safe travel, significantly reduce traffic congestion, and lower air pollution levels, thereby contributing to environmental sustainability. He directed officers to ensure quality, transparency, and timely completion of all shelters to finalize arrangements before the service launch.
