NGC's Digital Leap: Over 85% ERP & ICT Modernisation Complete
NGC's ERP & ICT Modernisation Hits 85% Progress

In a significant stride towards a digital future, the National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGC) has reported remarkable progress in its comprehensive modernization drive. The state-owned entity has successfully crossed the 85 percent completion mark in its ambitious ERP and ICT Modernisation Programme.

A Vision for a Digital and Transparent Grid

The milestone was highlighted during the 44th Steering Committee Meeting on ERP & ICT. Leading the discussion, Managing Director NGC, Engr Altaf Hussain, confirmed that this large-scale initiative is in perfect sync with the federal government's vision for nationwide digitization, transparency, and efficient public service delivery.

Hussain emphasized that the core objective is to replace outdated, manual procedures with standardized, automated, and transparent systems. This transformation is set to position NGC as a modern and efficient backbone for the country's power transmission network.

Core Modules Go Live, Final Stages Underway

Senior management and technical teams provided a detailed briefing on the project's current status. They confirmed that several critical ERP modules are not only activated but are fully operational and currently in the rollout phase. These include:

  • Finance
  • Human Capital Management
  • Supply Chain & Inventory

Furthermore, the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system is now in production. This platform unifies crucial functions like operations management, tripping analysis, maintenance scheduling, and shutdown management onto a single, reliable platform.

The remaining components, including Procurement, Treasury, Project Systems, Billing & Recovery, and e-Tendering, are in their final implementation stages. Their rollout is scheduled for the coming months, keeping the project on track for completion within the approved timeline.

Tangible Benefits for a Modern Power Sector

The new integrated system is designed to deliver concrete, long-term benefits for all stakeholders. Key advantages highlighted include:

  • Streamlined internal operations and improved coordination.
  • Enhanced financial management and control.
  • Real-time data availability for better, faster decision-making.
  • A strengthened cybersecurity posture and more reliable ICT infrastructure.

This technological overhaul is expected to benefit NGC employees, stakeholders, and the power sector as a whole. By adopting modern technology solutions, NGC reinforces its commitment to supporting Pakistan's growing energy demands and ensuring a reliable, transparent, and efficient national transmission system.
