In a significant development for Pakistan's renewable energy landscape, the renowned Chinese inverter and energy storage manufacturer Hoymiles has officially launched its operations in the country. The company aims to provide advanced, long-duration energy storage solutions tailored for solar-powered homes, businesses, and industries.
Strategic Partnerships for Market Penetration
To establish a strong foothold in the rapidly growing Pakistani market, Hoymiles has formed key strategic alliances. It has partnered with Superstar, a well-known entity in Pakistan's automotive sector, and Harisun Energy, a new player in the energy solutions field. The collaborative launch events were held simultaneously in Karachi and Lahore, unveiling a range of Hoymiles products under the brands of these local partners.
The entry comes at a crucial time. Over recent years, a massive shift towards solar power has been observed among industrial, commercial, and residential electricity consumers. This trend is driven by persistent power outages and soaring electricity costs. Reports indicate that Pakistan's net-metering capacity has reached 6,000 MW, while off-grid solar capacity is projected to hit 12,000 MW by the end of 2025.
Addressing the Core Challenge: Energy Storage
Haris Jamsheed, CEO of Harisun Energy, highlighted a major hurdle in Pakistan's solar expansion. "Pakistan’s growing solar sector is facing a major challenge related to long-hour backup and energy storage solutions, which will soon be addressed with the entry of a global leader in energy solutions," he stated. "Our partnership with the Chinese company will provide innovative energy storage solutions... enabling uninterrupted electricity supply at workplaces, factories, and homes during nighttime hours."
The widespread solar adoption is largely attributed to prolonged load-shedding in remote areas and unaffordable grid electricity for many households and industrial units.
Driving an Energy Revolution and Economic Competitiveness
Saleem Umar, Chairman of Superstar, emphasized the transformative potential of this venture. "We have vowed to bring an energy revolution to Pakistan through innovative storage solutions," he said. He pointed out that the industrial and commercial sectors can boost productivity with low-cost electricity backup. "Affordable electricity will reduce operational costs at the domestic level, enabling exporters to compete more effectively in global markets."
Through these partnerships, Superstar Solar Energy and Harisun Energy are introducing Hoymiles' comprehensive portfolio, which includes solar inverters, energy storage systems, and smart energy management platforms. These solutions are engineered to deliver reliable, efficient, and sustainable power, enabling users to fully leverage solar energy.
This market entry is backed by impressive growth metrics. According to the International Energy Agency, Pakistan has become one of the world's fastest-growing solar markets. In the first half of the year, it imported about 50 GW of solar panels, becoming the third-largest market for Chinese solar panels globally, a fact that has captured international attention.
