RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi on Wednesday handed over a cheque worth Rs. 30 million to the Murree Bar Association for construction of its building and improvement of infrastructure. The cheque was presented on behalf of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Senior Minister Punjab Marriyum Aurangzeb during a meeting with office-bearers of the bar and representatives of the lawyers community.
Coordinator to Senior Minister Punjab Hassan Aurangzeb was also present on the occasion. During the meeting, matters relating to mutual cooperation between the bar and district administration, issues faced by the lawyers’ community, and improvement of judicial and legal facilities in Murree were discussed in detail.
The deputy commissioner appreciated the role of the legal fraternity and assured that the district administration would continue to extend full cooperation to strengthen coordination between the bar and the bench and ensure prompt delivery of justice to the public. The lawyers expressed gratitude to the provincial leadership, terming the financial assistance a historic step for the Murree Bar Association.
In a separate development, Lahore police unveiled a comprehensive Muharram security plan for 458 processions to ensure peace and order during the holy month.
