Rare Vulture Rescued in Punjab, Sent to Wildlife Park

LAHORE: Wildlife rangers successfully rescued a rare Eurasian griffon vulture from the riverine area along the Indus River on Monday. The bird was immediately transported to the Rahim Yar Khan Wildlife Park for medical attention and rehabilitation.

Rescue Operation Details

According to officials, Rahim Yar Khan Wildlife Ranger Assistant Chief Mujahid Kaleem took the vulture into custody after receiving a rescue call. The bird was placed in the wildlife park alongside two other griffon vultures that had been rescued from the district during the current season.

The official stated that all three vultures are receiving proper care and treatment under continuous monitoring to ensure their full recovery. Once their health is fully rehabilitated, the birds will be released back into their natural habitat.

Anti-Poaching Actions

In a separate incident, wildlife rangers conducted a raid in a village near Zafarwal and arrested suspect Hameed Raza, a resident of Siswan village, for illegal hunting. He was handed over to Lehsar police, and a case was registered against him.

Additionally, in Chakwal, five men allegedly involved in the illegal hunting of jackals were caught red-handed. Wildlife authorities imposed a fine of Rs135,000 on them.
