Livestock Department Employees in Khanewal Receive Motorcycles to Enhance Services

In a significant move to improve agricultural outreach, sixty-four employees of the Livestock Department in Khanewal district have been provided with motorcycles under a revolutionary initiative led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. This program aims to facilitate better access to cattle rearers, enabling swift extension services that are expected to boost milk and meat production across the region.

Distribution Ceremony Highlights Government Support

The distribution of motorcycle keys took place at a ceremony held on Thursday, where Member of the National Assembly Muhammad Khan Daha and Deputy Commissioner Maleeha Rasheed officiated the event. A total of twenty-one veterinary officers and forty-three paramedical staff members received the vehicles, marking a pivotal step in modernizing livestock care in Khanewal.

During the ceremony, MNA Muhammad Khan Daha praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her forward-thinking approach. He emphasized that the motorcycles, equipped with modern kits, will allow staff to treat and provide first aid to ailing or injured animals efficiently. The initiative includes a three-year easy installment plan, making it accessible for the department's personnel.

Enhancing Mobility and Outreach Efforts

Deputy Commissioner Maleeha Rasheed highlighted the importance of this facility in improving the mobility of officials and officers. She stated that instead of confining themselves to office premises, staff are now encouraged to actively engage with cattle rearers in the field. This shift is designed to ensure that extension services are delivered directly to those in need, fostering a more responsive and effective livestock management system.

The ceremony was attended by key figures, including the Director of Livestock for the Multan division, the Additional Director of Livestock for Khanewal, PML-N leader Mian Ikramullah Kamboh, other officials, and media representatives. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort behind this initiative.

Broader Implications for Agricultural Development

This initiative is part of a larger strategy to support the agricultural sector in Punjab. By enhancing the reach of livestock services, the government aims to not only improve animal health but also increase productivity in milk and meat production. The provision of motorcycles is seen as a practical solution to overcome logistical challenges, ensuring that veterinary care is timely and accessible.

As the Livestock Department staff begin utilizing these new resources, the expected outcomes include reduced disease incidence among animals, better breeding practices, and overall economic benefits for local farmers. This move aligns with ongoing efforts to modernize Pakistan's agricultural infrastructure and promote sustainable farming practices.
