KP Outsources 2,000 Schools to Private Sector

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to outsource government schools across the province, following a similar approach previously adopted for public hospitals. According to the provincial education department, around 2,000 government primary schools will be handed over to the private sector under the approved outsourcing plan.

Outsourcing Plan Details

Officials said nearly 500 public schools have already been outsourced so far, while the provincial government will provide around Rs300,000 per month to each school to meet staff salaries and other operational costs. The education department further stated that 233 schools located in winter zone areas have already been outsourced.

Positive Enrollment Trends

According to officials, student enrollment in these schools has shown significant improvement, increasing by 89%. The number of enrolled students has risen to 7,718 compared to 4,086 before the outsourcing process. Authorities added that the government aims to increase enrollment from an average of 40 students per school to 180 within one year.
